Paolo Contis is hopeful they can still win the Eat Bulaga trademark
Kapuso actor-host Paolo Contis reacted to the Eat Bulaga trademark issue as he believes that the fight is not yet over.
Paolo became one of the new hosts of Eat Bulaga when the iconic TVJ trio of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, as well as the Dabarkads filed their resignation. Following the conflict between the hosts and TAPE Inc, the producer of the show, this decision was made.
TVJ and the legit Dabarkads transferred to TV5 but they weren’t able to bring with them the title Eat Bulaga as TAPE argued that the right to use the title belongs to them.
Just recently, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) released a decision in favor of TVJ. However, TAPE Inc. won’t allow that this would be the end game. The production company is not giving up as they plan to appeal and explore the legal measures to reverse the decision.
This was echoed by Paolo Contis during Eat Bulaga‘s episode on December 6, based on the article in PEP, as he expressed that this is not yet over. “Simple lang ang gusto kong sabihin para sa ating mga Kapuso. Mga Kapuso, mahaba pa po ang laban. Ibig sabihin, legally, wala pang final. Okay?” she said.
Despite what happened, Paolo said that they promised that they would continue what they started, giving joy and extending help because this is the reason why they go to work every single day.
“Kayo po ang dahilan kaya nandito kami,” he said. Then, his co-host Winwyn Marquez said, “Kaya tuloy ang Pasko na pinakamasaya.” This was followed by Betong Sumaya who said, “Dito lang yan sa tahanang pinakamasaya!”
With this, Paolo Contis reacted to his co-hosts’ statement and said that this is not what the title of their show is, and together, they shouted, “Ito po ang Eat Bulaga!!”
