Derek Ramsay talked about his movie with Beauty Gonzalez
Actor Derek Ramsay revealed why he felt awkward doing love scenes with actress Beauty Gonzalez in the movie (K)ampon.
The movie is directed by King Palisoc and written by Dodo Dayao. This is one of the official entries to the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in December.
Derek, as well as Beauty, is not new to doing love scenes. Over the course of their careers, they already had intimate moments with their co-stars onscreen. However, in a recent movie that Derek did with Beauty, the actor admitted feeling awkward when they did the love scenes.
Based on the article in Inquirer, the actor was asked how he could do that “very awkward” love scene with his leading lady in the movie.
“Shut yourself down, forget that you’re you, and be in your character,” Derek Ramsay said. Beauty Gonzalez is the best friend of his wife Ellen Adarna.
“Yes, they’re very close. I had to arrive on the set with my A game. It was a big wall to overcome. I see Beauty in the house, or when we’re hanging out, then I had to see her as someone I have to do a very intimate scene with,” the actor shared.
Derek also shared that he had long talks with Ellen about how he would get into his character in order to have that realistic portrayal. The Cebuana celebrity would just laugh at her husband and somehow, this made Derek uncomfortable and difficult.
The actor commended his leading lady for being professional and because of that, it was easy for them to go through those kinds of scenes. “We made sure to do it in one or two takes. Tinodo na namin ni Beauty. The longer it takes, the more awkward it gets,” the actor revealed.
In the movie, Derek Ramsay’s character is a policeman and Beauty Gonzalez portrays the character of his wife. For the longest time, the couple was trying to have a child but they failed, and the doctor verified to them that it was Derek’s character who had the problem.
His character has a lot of personal issues, including the information that he would be able to have a child and the blame was on his side. Then, the family of Beauty’s character added to the burden they were feeling.
“They tried every way possible to conceive a child, so he’s at a point where he has already accepted that they couldn’t. Beauty, on the other hand, is still hopeful and persistent, and then the character of Erin (Espiritu) comes in. She is supposedly his child. That’s when complete chaos happens,” Derek Ramsay shared about their movie.
