Authorities released the latest development in radio broadcaster murder
Radio Broadcaster Murder – The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) said that there are four possible motives in the killing of radio broadcaster Juan Jumalon, also known as Johnny Walker.
PTFoMS is a body under the government that is designated to inventory police cases related to violence against media workers. The agency is also tasked to investigate unresolved cases and other obligations in line with this.
On November 5, Jumalon was having his regular radio program at his studio in his home and this was simulcast on his Facebook Live. While he was speaking, two gunshots were heard and the suspect grabbed his necklace and escaped.

Following this incident, President Bongbong Marcos released a statement condemning the killing of the popular radio broadcaster in Misamis Occidental.
In a report from Inquirer, PTFoMS executive director Undersecretary Paul Gutierrez said that there are four possible motives. However, he did not enumerate those possible motives.
On the other hand, Gutierrez said that there is a possibility that it could be a personal grudge, work-related, or politics-related based on the police’s ongoing investigation. “Unang-una ‘yung kanya pong pagiging broadcaster ay mukha pong lumi-lead na work-related ito,” Gutierrez said.
The PTFoMS official also said that they are checking the angle that which Jumalon is involved in the issue of a land dispute in their area that has already reached the court. Gutierrez also mentioned the possibility that the killing has something to do with the recently concluded Barangay and SK Elections.

He also suggested the review of the previous episode of Jumalon’s radio program but the late broadcaster’s colleagues said that he was not among the hard-hitting radio commentators.
Meanwhile, Calamba Municipal Police Station officer-in-charge Captain Diore Libre Ragonio said that they have identified three “persons of interest” in this crime. The two persons entered the victim’s house and the other one served as a lookout.
