Darryl Yap shared what happened during his meeting with Sarah Geronimo
Controversial director Darryl Yap and Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo had a meeting because the latter wanted to do a unique project.
Direk Darryl is known for his unconventional scripts which brought shock to many people. There were those who enjoyed his projects but it is inevitable that there were also those who criticized him.
Back in March, a photo of Direk Darryl with Sarah caught the attention of many netizens. Speculations surfaced that they will do a project together.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Darryl Yap narrated what happened during his meeting with Sarah Geronimo. The meeting was organized by Viva, the entertainment company handling them.
It was because the singer-actress wanted to do a project that is something different from what she had done before. “So, sinabi ko yung mga material ko na naiisip ko para sa kanya. Parang na-trauma si Miss Sarah. Parang natulala lang siya sa akin,” the director shared.
When the two of them talked, Direk Darryl said to Sarah, “Sabi mo, something new…” Then, the singer-actress said, “Pero hindi naman po yata…”
The director said that in the entertainment industry, there are a lot of restrictions. These restrictions are not just self-imposed by artists but these are stated on their contracts and they have an image they have to protect.
He said that he is always ready to work with artists who are also ready. “Kung meron man akong hindi babaliin o babaguhin, yon yung formula ko when it comes to filmmaking. You always offer something that’s truly new. Something that’s truly untouched,” the director stressed.
Direk Darryl Yap also shared that aside from Sarah Geronimo, there were also big stars who he was able to talk with and wanted to do something unique.
“I’ve been meeting with big stars for, like, two months already, and lahat sila, babalikan ako. So, parang feeling ko, magma-Manaoag muna sila. Feeling ko, magpapa-survey muna sila kung kaya nila, because my scripts can really break a person so I don’t blame them if they need time,” he shared.
He added that there were artists who would tell him that they like his materials but they need to consult their legal team first.
