Lala Sotto Says She Will Not Intervene In Noontime Show Issues

Lala Sotto promised to be fair in noontime show issues

Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chair Lala Sotto said that she will not intervene in the issues involving noontime shows.

The noontime saga is definitely not yet over. This saga also includes MTRCB and the online community. Netizens started the movement to report the “inappropriate” acts on noontime shows, and the review and classification board has been extra aware of what is happening on live shows following the “icing incident” that It’s Showtime hosts Vice Ganda and Ion Perez had.

The recent noontime show issue involved the “lubid joke” of Henyo Master Joey de Leon during an episode of the Gimme 5 segment on E.A.T. During a recent Senate hearing on this issue, based on the article in Balita, MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto said that she will not intervene in the process of how the board is dealing with the issues in noontime shows.

In the spirit of transparency and in the spirit of fairness, I have already inhibited myself from participating in all the adjudication processes of any noontime shows,” Chair Sotto said.

She also stressed that she is not joining the voting process on the board if it involves noontime shows. It is known to many that she is the daughter of former Senate President Tito Sotto, who is one of the hosts of the Kapatid noontime show EAT.

Previously, Chair Sotto “inhibited from voting” for the 12-day suspension that the Kapamilya noontime show received as a penalty. “I was physically present because it was during a board meeting but I did not vote, I did not participate,” she revealed.

Following the criticism that Joey de Leon received following the “lubid joke,” EAT released a statement apologizing to the MTRCB.
