Manny Pacquiao Reveals Winging Gold Medal in Olympics is His Long Time Dream
Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao revealed that winning a gold medal in Olympics is his long time dream.
It is worth noting that the renowned Filipino boxing superstar and eight-division world champion is eager to continue his remarkable career. This desire has surfaced after he expressed his aspiration to return to the boxing ring and compete for a gold medal at the upcoming Olympics in Paris.
According to the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), the former senator reached out and expressed his interest in vying for an Olympic medal in the Rio de Janeiro Games, with POC President Rep Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino stating that Pacquiao’s team provided information on how to qualify for the Paris Games.
Conquering Paris and securing an Olympic gold medal represents the next potential mission for Pacquiao, also known as the “Pambansang Kamao”. He is eagerly looking forward to achieving this final milestone in his legendary boxing career.
During the launch of his latest venture, the Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA), the former senator reiterated his desire to represent his country in the Olympics for the first time. At 44 years old, Pacquiao emphasized that winning a gold medal is both his dream and his burning ambition.
“I’m waiting for that. Excited naman ako dyan,” said boxing’s only eight-division champion at the Sheraton Manila Hotel in Pasay City.
“From the very beginning, ang pangarap at puso ko ay makakuha ng gold medal sa Olympics,” he added.
Pacquiao’s journey began as a slender teenager from General Santos City, who ventured to Manila with hopes of joining the national team, only to be rejected due to his alleged lack of skills. As fate would have it, he embarked on a professional boxing career at the age of 16, setting the stage for his remarkable storybook career.
“From the beginning, sabi ko nagpunta ako sa Manila kasi gusto kong masali sa Philippine team. Kaso ‘di ako nakuha, na-reject ako. Dahil ‘di raw ako marunong. So, napilitan ako mag-pro at the age of 16. ‘Yun ang dahilan nun,” added Pacquiao.
On a different note, Pacquiao personally announced the launch of the MPVA on Friday, following the success of his basketball league, MPBL. He and the MPVA organization view the league as a fresh platform for aspiring volleyball players, making competitions more accessible in their local areas.
“I’m hoping this inaugural season ng MPVA maging unforgettable moment katulad nong sa MPBL. Napakaraming natanggap naming suporta sa iba’t ibang sulok ng bansa. I’m hoping na suportahan niyo rin,” Pacquiao said based on the report of ABS-CBN News.
“I am hoping na maging institution league ito, talagang maging home ng mga Pilipino athletes natin sa volleyball para ‘di na sila maglaro sa ibang bansa. Gusto ko i-develop ‘yung grassroots. Marami talagang Pilipino na ang hihilig sa sports kaso lang kulang ‘yung mga programa natin na ibinababa sa kanila,” he continued.

Manny we really enjoyed watching your boxing days! But this time pls have yourself take that lasting peace by hanging your gloves and let the younge ones box ok?
Please give the young poor people who are just starting to have their wishes to earn. A little amount of money realize their dreams for freedom from being poor. You should be also ashamed your opponents are not caliber people. You should continue to fight those in the professional main events. It’s a big shame to see you scare or bully mentally young and inexperienced aspirants.
