Basketball Player John Amores Applies for PBA Draft After Viral Incident
Controversial basketball player John Amores is included in the list of athletes applying in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) draft.
Amores, who previously made buzz in social media platforms, is one of over 100 individuals who have applied for the 48th Season of the PBA Draft. The PBA Draft is scheduled to occur on Sunday, September 17, at Market! Market! in Taguig City.
This season has seen a record-breaking 128 players submitting their applications to join the PBA, marking the highest number in the league’s history. The PBA unveiled the list of hopefuls on their official Facebook page, with notable figures like Ricci Rivero and several college players also among the applicants.
The league will release the official list of eligible Draft applicants after the two-day Draft Combine and the Office of the Commissioner’s screening of all the requirements submitted by the applicants.
It’s worth recalling that Amores made headlines last year due to a controversial incident where he entered the College of St. Benilde’s bench and engaged in altercations with some of its players. Because of this, the match of College of St Benilde and Jose Rizal University (JRU) was stopped.
Subsequently, Amores was removed from the JRU team and faced academic suspension. Amores was signed by the Zamboanga Valientes and later played in the ASEAN Basketball League. Zamboanga believes Amores will be a tremendous asset to their team.
