Basketball Player Ricci Rivero Apply for PBA Rookie Draft

Controversial basketball player Ricci Rivero allegedly filed application for Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) rookie draft.

Rivero’s agent, Charlie Dy, confirmed that the young basketball star has officially applied for the PBA Rookie Draft. Rivero officially entered the rookie pool following a brief run with Taoyuan Pilots in Taiwan’s P.League+ and Blackwater Red President in the PBA 3×3.

Rivero won two championships with La Salle in 2016 and University of the Philippines in 2021 before turning pro. Rivero says it is his ambition to play in the PBA, based on the article of Spin PH.

“Sa PBA, sobrang pangarap din talaga na makapaglaro ako,” said Rivero in a past interview. “Hindi lang siguro na-grab agad ‘yung opportunity kasi may chance na ma-try din sa ibang country.”

Aside from Rivero, Brent Paraiso, who is managed by the same people, has also applied for the PBA Rookie Draft. Following his time at Letran in the NCAA, where he won two championships with the Knights, Paraiso applied.

Schonny Winston, a former La Salle standout who was temporarily in the national pool, has also applied, as has Kyt Jimenez. Rivero and Paraiso applied just in time for the Market’s Rookie Draft on September 17! Market! Taguig is a city in the Philippines.
