Chino Trinidad Reveals the Reason Why He Left GMA Network after 23 Years

Sports journalist Chino Trinidad revealed the reason why he decided to leave the GMA Kapuso network after 23 years of service.

Chino explains why he left the GMA Network in an interview with Michael Fajatin and Ina Andolong on “Politiskoop.” He hinted at how his career as a Kapuso journalist ended.

“Wish ko lang sana nagtapos ng maayos,” said Chino. “Hindi sa paraan na ‘yung pagtatapos ay mapait, maganda sana na you only have fond memories of the network you served and gave you a platform.”

Chino also claimed that her FIBA media accreditation was revoked after he left GMA, implying that he wanted to pursue a solo career as a sports journalist. He lamented the fact that he had passed up the opportunity to be the eyes and ears of basketball fans.

“Hindi na nga ako binigyan ng accreditation, tinanggal pa ‘yung accreditation ko sa FIBA.. Ang na-miss out ko is ‘yung opportunity para maging mata, bibig ng mga nagmamahal sa basketball,” he stated during the invterview.

Meanwhile, Chino spoke on his friendship with late broadcaster Mike Enriquez, who was instrumental in his career at GMA Network. He said that it was the latter who introduced him to GMA Network.

Chino thanked Mike profusely, emphasizing the amount of appreciation he owed him. He recalled Mike bringing him into the GMA fold in 2000, when he was recruited from DZBB.

 “Alam niyo kung gaano kalaki ang utang na loob ko kay Mike Enriquez? Siya lang naman ang nagdala sakin sa GMA in 2000 noong kinuha niya ako sa DZBB and that started my career, give my family life, gave me a platform for the last 23 years,” he said.
