Janine Gutierrez talked about her heavy role in ‘Dirty Linen’
Kapamilya actress Janine Gutierrez proved that she is more than just a beautiful face and she has these words to those who judged her for being a mestiza.
Janine came from one of the popular showbiz clans in the Philippines. Beauty runs in their veins. It is known to many that her relatives are good-looking as well. With her looks, it is inevitable that other people would not like to look deeper than the surface.
Having that kind of narrow mentality, bashing, criticism, and negative reactions are also addressed to Janine.
In a recent media conference for her Kapamilya primetime murder mystery series Dirty Linen, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Janine Gutierrez talked about her serious role.
However, the hardest scene she did in Dirty Linen was not something that involved heavy crying or showing intense emotion. It was actually how she was controlling herself not to laugh because of a co-actor.
There were comments that since she is mestiza, she will just get limited roles. However, she proved that her naysayers are wrong. She said that she does not want to play “good” characters only as she loves that a certain role has layers.
“Sobrang thankful ako na napagkatiwalaan ako dun kay Alexa kasi dati nasabihan na ako na ‘ah hindi ka pwedeng masyadong mag-play ng mga ganyang role kasi masyado kang mestiza or ganyan… dati nasabihan na ako na hanggang ganon lang ‘yung pwede kong gawing role dahil sa hitsura ko or ganyan,” she shared.
The actress expressed gratitude to Dreamscape, Mr. Deo Endrinal, and their directors for giving her the opportunity to portray this kind of role.
Janine also said that this kind of role makes her excited, a character who is not just one-sided, someone that will make the viewers weigh if she will be loved or hated.
Dirty Linen is in its last two weeks and viewers can expect the end of the revenge saga between two families. The series is airing on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5, Kapamilya Online Live, iWantTFC, and TFC.
Meanwhile, in a previous social media post, Janine Gutierrez shared that even her mom seasoned actress Lotlot de Leon is an avid viewer of her series. The Kapamilya actress said, “Binabaan ako ng phone ni Mama,” because at that Lotlot was already watching Dirty Linen.
