Netizens talk about Mel Tiangco due to Jay Sonza’s issue
Veteran Kapuso news anchor Mel Tiangco became a trending topic online after the arrest of her former Mel and Jay co-host Jay Sonza.
Years ago, the two news personalities hosted a popular 90s talk show. It was said that their partnership went beyond onscreen. Just recently, news about Sonza’s arrest surfaced online.
He was supposed to travel to Hong Kong but when the immigration officer was interviewing him, he was hindered due to a pending estafa case against him. Eventually, it was found out that there was a syndicated and large-scale illegal recruitment complaint against him. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed that the former reporter was detained.
With this, netizens have been talking about his past fiery statements against personalities. Netizens also recalled the past connection that he has with Mel Tiangco. On X (Twitter) the name of 24 Oras news anchor is among the top trending topics.
A certain @AutumReed27 shared that her parents told her that Sonza conned Tiangco. It was alleged that the former news anchor took P8 million from his former co-host and this was because of an investment scam.
There were netizens who also looked back to the fondest memories they had about Mel & Jay. The show became a part of many people’s lives.

Some netizens also expressed that they had high respect for Sonza because of his image with Tiangco years ago but this has changed.

There were netizens who said that it was a good thing that it was Emil Sumangil who read the news about Jay Sonza and not Mel Tiangco because it might look awkward.
