Young Tattoo Artist Electrocuted to Death after Using DIY Tattoo Machine

A 19-year-old tattoo artist died after being electrocuted after allegedly using a “Do It Yourself” (DIY) tattoo machine.

In Mati City, Davao Oriental, a young lad who was just beginning out as a tattoo artist was electrocuted by the homemade tattoo machine he was using. Angelo Zafra was recognized as the victim.

Tattoo Artist Electrocuted

According to the report of GMA News, Angelo was with his buddies when the tragedy occurred. The victim was hurried to the hospital, but upon arrival, the doctor ruled him dead. Angelo’s dream, according to the victim’s father, Adrian, is to finish school so that he and his younger brother can finish as well.

According to Mati City Police Chief Lieutenant Colonel Ernesto Gregorio, it was his and his companions’ first time using the homemade tattoo machine. Gregorio warned against tinkering with machinery and wires and instead sought professional advice.

Do not dive into electronics because it is related to risk, according to the authorities. Meanwhile, the Philippine Tattoo Artist Guild has expressed its sadness at the tragedy.

According to Maru Plata, Public Relations Officer of the Philippine Tattoo Artist Guild Inc, adequate instruction and help could have saved the victim’s life. The organization also advocated for the regulation of tattoo artists through licensing and legal permissions.
