MMFF 2023 to have its own awards night in the States
MMFF 2023 – Entries for the Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 are set to be shown in America and an awards night will be held for this.
The film festival in the Philippines is taking a leap. MMDA Acting Chairman and MMFF Concurrent Chairman Atty. Don Artes shared that the film festival is going international. He revealed that when the country sent the About Us But Not About Us movie to the  San Francisco Film Festival.
Artes said that there was another letter of intent that came with this invitation and it is for the event to hold an international screening para sa Metro Manila Film Festival entries, based on the article in PEP.
“Nakipag-meet po ang ating delegation kay Miss Lisa Lew, siya po ay eight-time Emmy award-winning producer sa Hollywood,” Artes shared, adding that Lew’s husband is a partner in a production company in the US and they will lead the production company that will bring the chosen entries this coming December.
These films will be shown in L. A., San Francisco, and Chicago and will have their own awards night. Artes also shared that Fil-Am actors in Hollywood will be the jurors and the launching will happen in October during Filipino Heritage Week in L. A.
The MMDA Acting Chairman shared that this is almost a done deal and just a little discussion is just needed for small details.
“At masasabi ko po na parang done deal na po ito, konting nitty-gritty na lang ang pag-uusapan. Nag-agree na rin po sila sa ilang demands natin, like gagastusan nila ang producer at isang main actor or actress para po dalhin sa Amerika, at dito po sa tatlong lugar na ito, at para po rin sa awards night,” Artes said.
Among the MMFF 2023 entries are A Mother and Son’s Story, (K)ampon, Penduko, and Rewind.
“Iyon pong entries ng 49th MMFF sa December, iyon po ang dadalhin sa Amerika, I think third week of January,” Artes said.
