Kim Chiu has a new project in which she plays an aspiring fashion designer
Chinita Princess Kim Chiu shared that before a massive fire hit Manila Post Office, she was able to shoot a scene near the historical building.
Projects keep on coming to Kim. Aside from her regular hosting job in the Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime, she also has several acting projects. One of the recent projects that she did is the Fit Check: Confessions of an Ukay Queen.
It is collaboration series between ABS-CBN’s Dreamscape Entertainment and Prime Video.
In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Kim Chiu shared that she was able to shoot by the Manila Post Office before the building was devoured by fire last May.
This project is somehow a breather for Kim. She missed doing romantic-comedy series. “Doing a fashion-serye, I super love fashion, na-enjoy ko talaga and doing this kind of genre… na-miss ko talagang gumawa ng romantic-comedy-drama type of series na feel-good lang but at the same time may puso, kuwento about family so it’s close to home,” she said.
In the series, she plays the role of Melanie, an “ukay-ukay” who aspires to be a fashion designer. Because of this role, she was able to learn how to use a digital sewing machine.
Kim also shared that this is a colorful series that features designers like Michael Leyva. Stage directors like Robby Carmona, and make-up artists like Juan Sarte will also appear in the series.
The Kapamilya star is also excited to showcase the different places in Manila. “Nakakakilabot na naroon kami most especially sa locations namin, pinakita talaga namin ang ganda ng Maynila. Mapapanood ‘to ng buong mundo parang ‘Uy ganyan pala sa Manila, Philippines, mapa-visit nga’,” she said.
One of the places that were featured in this series was the Manila Post Office. Fortunately, they were able to shoot before the tragedy that happened in the historical building.
