KZ Tandingan is now a coach from being a contestant years ago
Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan shared the difficult part of her job as a coach in the singing competition The Voice Kids.
KZ started as a singing competition contestant. She was the winner of The X Factor Philippines in 2012. From that, she soared how through her talent and determination. Over the years, she has already done several concerts in the Philippines and abroad.
From a contestant, she has become a mentor or a coach. In a recent interview, based on the article in Bandera, KZ talked about her coaching stint in the latest edition of The Voice Kids.
KZ Tandingan said that this is not an easy job. She shared that one of the difficult things in coaching kids is the way how to make them understand technical terms when it comes to singing and performing.
“It was hard for me emotionally na paano mo ie-explain sa kanya, you just can’t sa technical terms kasi hindi naman maiintindihan ng bata, you really have to be visual about it,” the singer said.
Since this is a competition, it is also part of a coach’s responsibility to choose who will make it to the next round. She added that it was hard to also deal with this aspect.
The coaches also have to be aware of how they will give their comments on the performances. They should be careful of what they would say to the kids. “Sobrang nipis nu’ng line between criticizing the kids na mage-gets niya, ayaw mo rin naman na mag-lie sa bata, sabihin mo na magaling kahit na kailangan ng advice,” KZ explained.
She shared that she told the production team that this will really affect the way she would treat her kids in the future. She realized that she has a long way to go. “Ganito pala ‘yung pakiramdam na magulang ka,” KZ Tandingan said.
