TV5 Says TVJ Are Now Co-producers and Not Just Talents Anymore
TV5 network said that Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon (TVJ) are now co-producers and not just talents anymore.
The trio is no longer just talents after parting ways with their former producer at the GMA network, Television and Production Exponents Inc (TAPE). According to Manny Pangilinan, chairman of Mediaquest, TVJ is now a content provider.
During the press conference for the next Eat Bulaga show, rumored to be called ‘This is Eat, Dabarkads,’ Pangilinan stated that TVJ Productions, the production business formed by the iconic trio, will offer content to TV5. TVJ productions could produce ‘Wow Mali’ and ‘Iskul Bukol’ for TV5 in addition to their impending noontime show.
Because they are no longer talents, TVJ has more leeway in deciding which shows to air. Aside from that, they would receive a larger share of the revenue generated by their performances.
“They are not talents anymore. They are part-owners with the content they produce. That’s a very important point of our group, the Metro Pacific Group. We want the talents who work for us and with us as part-owners of the business.” Pangilinan said.
“Hindi naman sa amin manggaling ang content. Wala naman kaming alam. Masyado kaming seryoso sa buhay, di ba?” he added.
Pangilinan earned applause from the Dabarkads when he stated that they are “co-owners” rather than “talents.” MVP also stated that they cannot terminate them because they are co-owners of the business.
“So we cannot fire them because they are not just talents, but they are co-owners of the business. They are producing. So, they are a big part of the creative process. They should be owners. They should be acknowledged and treated as such. And we will treat them that way.” he stated.
