Vice and Anne received various reactions to their statement about the song ‘Gento’ by SB19
PPop group SB19 released the song Gento, which went viral quickly not just in the Philippines but also abroad and A’tins did not like what It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis about the boy band.
As the single from Pagtatag EP of the PPop Kings skyrocketed and became a trending dance sensation, more and more people are getting into the vibe.
For several days, contestants in the Kapamilya noontime show would request to dance to the song of the Pinoy boy band. However, last Friday, when a contestant said that he wants to dance to Gento, Vice said that they are no longer to play the song on the show.
Vice Ganda said that it is already “bawal” because the group is asking for payment already. Anne Curtis remarked, “Ay talaga? May ganoon pala.” She added that this is actually a good promotion for the industry.
This did not sit well with the fans of SB19. A’Tins slammed the It’s Showtime hosts and some explained that there is a copyright issue also. Fans reiterated that artists, the PPop Kings, and their record label should be paid every time their song is being played on the Kapamilya noontime show.
Abante Tonite entertainment columnist Alwin Ignacio said that it was irresponsible for the host to say that payments are being asked for the song to be played.
“Napaka-iresponsable kasi ung pagsambulat sa “naningil” at kung matalino talaga si Vice, dapat ang sinabi niya eh may copyright ang kanta kaya pag settled na ang royalty, mapapakinggan siya ulit rito,” the columnist wrote.
Then, Ignacio shared that it was rumored that the royalty issue was already settled. “Balita na settled na diumano ang “Gento” royalty at magkakaalam kung papatugtugin pa itong muli sa “It’s Showtime,” the write shared.
As of writing, Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis haven’t released their statements yet after they were criticized by SB19 fans.
