Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee revealed the reaction of her mom Melanie Marquez to her gender orientation.
Days after this year’s MUPH coronation, Michelle came out as bis=xual. She received a lot of support from the LGBTQ+ community as well as from pageant fans. The Kapuso star also received overwhelming support from her fellow celebrities.
In an interview, based on the article in Bandera, Michelle said that her coming out was not difficult because of the support she received from her family.
Michelle Dee said that her mother Melanie Marquez is all-out support for her. “My mom pa naman she’s like queen of the gays so she never made me feel that there was something wrong with the LGBTQ community,” the actress-beauty queen said.
She also shared that her mom would tell her that if ever she will have a girlfriend, she should be more beautiful than her. “She told me to always shine as my own person, be confident on my own skin, and I never really felt like there was anything wrong with who I was,” Michelle added.
With the support that she has been receiving, her gender orientation is not a big deal at all. Michelle hopes that this will empower other people to be confident of who they really are.
The actress-beauty queen also shared that her gender orientation has been an “open secret” to people who are close to her and those she has worked with. , “So honestly, this is a move to empower people that may feel trapped, may feel like they need that extra boost of confidence,” Michelle Dee stressed.
