Canadian Vlogger Kyle Douglas Jennermann Officially Becomes Filipino Citizen
A Philippine-based Canadian vlogger Kyle Douglas Jennermann or popularly known as “Kulas” is now an official Filipino citizen.
The Canadian YouTuber behind the YouTube video “Becoming Filipino” will finally achieve his long-held dream of becoming a Filipino. According to the article, the Senate unanimously passed on the third and final reading of a bill transmitted from the House of Representatives that seeks to grant Jennerman Filipino citizenship.
“He really wants to be a Filipino. And he is not some fair-weather friend who loves us only for our scenic spots and hospitality, but would turn a blind eye to our identity, culture, and our language. He freely chose to enter into our world,” Senator Ronald dela Rosa explained his affirmative vote in plenary.
Based on the report, the Senate approved House Bill No. 7185, granting Jennermann Filipino citizenship, on final reading with 24 affirmative votes, no negative votes, and one abstention. Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri also expressed confidence that Jennermann, who is now teary-eyed, will live up to the Filipino people’s wonderful gift.
Zubiri complimented the Canadian vlogger for his efforts in promoting the country and culture to both Filipinos and other folks. Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa was also astounded by the Canadian’s capacity to demonstrate to the entire world what it genuinely meant to be a Filipino, not only on paper or by birth but by choice.
House Bill 7185 was approved by the lower chamber on February 27th, with 244 members voting in favor. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will now approve the bill granting Jennermann Philippine citizenship into law. Jennermann launched his YouTube channel in 2006 and has accumulated over one million subscribers since then.
