Jopay Paguia and Sugar Mercado were guests on ‘Sarap, ‘Di Ba?’
Dancers Jopay Paguia and Sugar Mercado, members of the defunct S=xbomb Girls, addressed the bullying issue in their dance group.
Their dance group was a big hit during the early 2000s. From being backup dancers in the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga, they were formed as a group. They released albums and had their own teleserye during the height of their popularity.
When they disbanded, some members were able to establish their solo careers in showbiz while some ventured into other fields.
Jopay Paguia and Sugar Mercado had a recent guesting on Sarap, Di Ba?, hosted by Carmina Villarroel with her twins Mavy and Cassy Legaspi.
During the Trip to The Hotseat Segment, based on the article in GMA Entertainment, Carmina has this question to her guests, “Dumating ba sa point na binu-bully ninyo si Sugar kaya siya umalis ng Sexbomb. Yes or No?”
Jopay said, “No” because she is not a bully. Sugar also said that everyone in their dance group is kind to her.
Then, Jopay explained that back then, the iconic TVJ trio (Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon) noticed Sugar for her “bibo” personality.
“Nakita nilang may potential talaga si Sugar. Although lahat naman po kami mayroon pero iba kasi ‘yung sabihin nating alindog ni Sugar that time. Baby talaga siya. Siya ‘yung youngest. Sobrang minahal talaga siya,” she added.
Jopay also took this opportunity to clarify another issue about their group. She said that it was not true that because of Sugar, their group was removed from Eat Bulaga. The wife of Joshua Zamora said that there were a lot of issues back then and it just piled up.
She added that Sugar was pitiful back then because she was the one receiving the bashing and they weren’t able to speak about that because they had no power to speak about the issue.
