Rbonney is one of the judges in the recently concluded MUPH 2023. Michelle, who represented Makati City was the winner. She got the crown on her second try. In 2022, she also joined the national pageant but was only hailed as the Miss Philippines Tourism.
Following Michelle’s win, there were polarizing comments from pageant fans. There were those who said that Miss Bohol Pauline Amelinckx was more deserving while some said that other candidates who were on Top 5 deserved to be crowned.
Despite the negative reaction that Michelle Dee received, like the crowd cheering “Bohol” after the coronation night, her fans rallied behind her. Fans supporting the Kapuso star pointed out the qualities that she has that made her the winner.
In an interview by ABS-CBN sports correspondent Dyan Castillejo, who was also one of the judges, Rbonney Gabriel was asked what she thinks Michelle Dee’s strongest points are.
The Miss Universe 2022 said that she watched Michelle’s closed-door interview and she can say that the Pinay beauty queen was so calm. “She was so relaxed and she addressed everybody in the room so well,” Rbonney said.
She added that Michelle also displayed this kind of aura on stage. “Great stage presence and performance,” the Filipino-American beauty said. Rbonney also said that she is a fan of Michelle’s styling and how poised she was.
Then, the Miss Universe 2022 also said that there were a lot of amazing girls and it was really a hard choice for her as a judge. “I’m very happy for Michelle being the next Miss Universe Philippines,” she added.
