Heart Evangelista Says Kevin Kwan Launched Her As Fashion Influencer

Heart Evangelista is indebted to Kevin Kwan

Fashion icon Heart Evangelista shared that it was best-selling author Kevin Kwan who launched her career as a fashion influencer.

Heart started her career in the entertainment industry at a young age. From the time she was launched as an actress, she worked non-stop doing TV shows and movies. However, there was a point when she felt that she can no longer conform to the molds that the showbiz have for her.

Eventually, she found herself in the fashion arena. In a recent interview on Fast Talk, King of Talk Boy Abunda’s Kapuso talk show, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Heart’s transition from being a full-time actress to a fashion influencer was quite easy for her.

It is because she is a self-confessed “kikay.” She gained international popularity when her hand-painted luxury bags went viral. However, the Kapuso star said that it was Kevin Kwan who launched her in the fashion arena.

Heart Evangelista met the Crazy Rich Asian author at the Schiaparelli show in France in 2018. The Pinay fashion shared that it was easy for her and Kevin to get along with each other.

“I met Kevin Kwan. Nag-click kami ni Kevin Kwan. I really owe a lot to him. Kevin Kwan, in a sense, launched me with the Harpers Bazaar feature,” Heart said. The said feature narrated the glamorous life of fashionista like her, as well as other Asian socialites Feiping Chang and Rachel and Michelle Yeoh.

At that time, what Heart was going through in real life was far from the glamorous life of a fashion icon.

“Actually, that time was also a tough time for me. I just lost my twins, and I was in a phase in my life, what’s next? Especially nga with the pressures of, you know, kailangang mag-anak ka. What’s next for you? Parang pag-aanak is still a career path,” the Kapuso star shared.

She did not know what to do at that time and then, she received a call from Kevin Kwan. Heart Evangelista initially said that she is not really a “crazy rich Asian” and so she felt that this feature is not for her.

“But he said something that was very nice. He said I was aspirational and that I should be part of the video,” the wife of Senator Chiz Escudero said.
