Ping Lacson Claims He is Not Interested in the Position in DOTr
Former senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson claimed that he is not interested in the position in the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
The former presidential candidate turned to Twitter to give her thoughts on political strategist Malou Tiquia’s strategy. Tiquia has stated that the former Senator would be an excellent choice for the DOTr.
Tiquia complimented Lacson’s experience as a military veteran and former police chief, as well as his anti-corruption attitude, according to a Politiko article. Lacson, she added, is a guy who checks the ground, who is usually on the ground and checking everything.
“May experience siya as a military man, may experience siya as dating head ng police, he talks in terms of systems, matindi ang anti-corruption at this is a guy who will check the ground, who will always be on the ground and checking things,” Tiquia said.
When asked if Lacson’s name was being floated for a position in the DOTR, Tiquia said it was a personal recommendation based on her evaluation of the agency’s shortcomings. She suggested that if Lacson could solve some of the agency’s difficulties, everyone would be satisfied.
“Talagang sa akin kasi kapag tinitignan ko ang problema ng DOTR, kailangan mo ang katulad ni Sen. Ping. Sa kanya ang public service hindi orasan. May training siya sa military so systems approach. Hindi siya corrupt, ang DOTR is a very problematic agency. Imagining mo kung maayos lang niya, ang problema diyan is sampu maayos lang ni Sen. Ping ang tatlo masaya na ang taumbayan,” Tiquia explained.
Meanwhile, Lacson has stated that he is uninterested in the role. Lacson made the announcement in a comment on Politiko’s Twitter post. “This will not happen,” he even said.
