Chinese National Allegedly Carrying Gun Arrested in a Police Checkpoint

Police authorities arrested a Chinese national for carrying a gun and pointing a gun at a police checkpoint in Parañaque City.

A Chinese national was apprehended after he was detected carrying a gun at a police checkpoint in Paranaque City. The police chief of Paranaque City, P/Col. The apprehended suspect, Renato Ocampo, was identified as Hao Lu, 28.

According to Ocampo’s report to the Southern Police District (SPD), the arrest occurred during a checkpoint performed by officers from the Tambo police Sub-Station of the Paranaque City police. Tambo police, according to Ocampo, stopped a white Volkswagen vehicle with the license plate NCJ-4472 driven by the suspect for a routine security check.

When confronted, the suspect yelled angrily at the officer who came to him and was performing a checkpoint in the area. The Chinese national even pointed a. 45-caliber gun at the police officer while cursing, based on the report.

During the ongoing investigation, it was discovered that the gun that the suspect pointed at the officer who stopped him was a forgery. Furthermore, the suspect lacked a driver’s license and was unable to produce any proof of ownership of the vehicle he was driving.

The authorities seized the replica of the.45 caliber pistol while impounding the suspect’s vehicle. Apart from violating Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, the suspect, who is currently being held in the custody of the Paranaque City police, is also facing multiple charges of grave threat, unjust vexation, alarm, and scandal.
