Singer Jona Viray Reveals She Stops at EDSA to Rescue Stray Animals
Filipina singer Jona Viray revealed that she allegedly stopped at EDSA to rescue stray animals wandering in busy streets.
The Filipina singer confessed her affection for stray animals in an interview with ABS-CBN’s Magandang buhay. Songbird Regine Velasquez, Jolina Magdangal, and Melai Cantiveros of Magandang Buhay are amazed with the advocacy of “Fearless Diva” Jona Viray, who is a certified furmom to over 70 rescued cats and dogs.
“Nung bata pa lang din ako. Gustong-gusto ko mag-alaga ng aso, pusa, birds. Kaya lang hindi pwede kasi ‘yung kapatid ko may asthma so late bloomer ako nagkaroon ng mga alaga,” shared the Kapamilya singer in the episode of Magandang Buhay.
Jona went on to say that it was her manager who truly motivated her to adopt and help the dogs and cats that came across the street, many of which were sick or in filthy conditions. “Others are victims of hit and run,” she said, using Pongi, who was with her on the show, as an example.
“Yung iba naman talaga namang na-neglect na sa kalsada. Wala nang mga balahibo, punong-puno ng pulgas, mga ganong sitwasyon,” Jona continued.
Songbird has also witnessed Jonah’s compassion towards animals. Jona is stopping at EDSA to rescue a kitten, according to Regine. Regine stated that she was impressed by Jona’s devotion and passion for animal rescue.
“Jolens, ito si Jona, humihinto sa EDSA ‘yan para mag-rescue ng kuting. Humanga ako rito kay Jona sa kanyang love and passion niya sa pag-rescue ng mga animals,” the OPM icon shared with fellow hosts.
Jona thanked her boss, Arlene, for her advocacy efforts. She claims she can’t accomplish it without the assistance of her manager. She also disclosed that they had a small rescue crew.
In terms of unforeseen rescues, Jona always keeps dog and cat food in the car in case he needs to tame any cats or dogs that appear along the way. When Jona revealed in 2022 that he had built an animal sanctuary in Rizal, it was one of the reasons why the public did not see him in several TV shows.
