Legazpi Mayor Disqualified for “Vote Buying” – Comelec En Banc

Comelec En Banc Affirms Disqualification vs Legazpi Mayor Over Vote Buying

Comelec En Banc affirmed the disqualification against Legazpi Mayor Geraldine Rosal after being found guilty of vote buying.

Comelec en banc has rendered a decision in the disqualification lawsuit filed by Joseph San Juan Armogila against Mayor Rosal. The mayor is disqualified in the judgment because he violated Section 68 of the Omnibus Election Code.

Based on the report, she apparently gives money throughout the election campaign. Rosal’s disqualification has been finalized, according to ComElec national spokesperson John Rex Laudianco.

Legazpi Mayor Vote Buying

If the Supreme Court does not give a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to Rosal within five days, the writ of execution would be dropped, and AKB Party-list Representative Alfredo Garbin, Jr will take over the seat permanently. The majority believes that the cases of the mayor and his wife, former Albay Governor Noel Rosal, are nearly comparable.

In the instance of the former governor, however, the rule of succession was followed. Its deputy governor took over as governor. According to Laudianco’s response, depending on the court’s ruling, it is determined who would finish second or who received the most votes in the election.

Garbin recently filed a motion to intervene, as you may recall. Rosal has 30 days following the proclamation to go to court if Garbin is sworn in as the next mayor of the city.
