Dolphy Son Eric Quizon Reveals They Filed Case Against Banayad Whiskey
DOLPHY – Actor Eric Quizon disclosed that his family has already filed a case against Banayad Whisky after it failed to stop production of its products with the face of his dad Dolphy on the packaging.
Rodolfo Vera Quizon Sr., better known by his stage name Dolphy passed away in 2012 at the age of 83, “due to multiple organ failure, secondary to complications brought on by pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and acute renal failure.”
The “Banayad Whisky” sequence from Dolphy’s 1995 film Father & Son is among his most well-known performances. He was filming a commercial for the aforementioned whisky in the humorous scene that he was made to partake in. He has to perform multiple takes, and his character ends up drunk.
Just recently, Dolphy’s son Eric Quizon warns all those who try to use the name, image, and photo of his father in any way. The actor and director announced that they have filed a complaint against the manufacturer of the liquor brand Banayad Whiskey for using his dad’s face on their packaging.
They said they were forced to sue because they still haven’t stopped making the said wine with the image of the late movie icon. According to Eric, the image of Dolphy as well as Banayad Whiskey is “patented and copyrighted”, which means that it belongs to the Quizon family and is forbidden to be used by anyone without permission.

On his Instagram, Eric Quizon posted a photo of a bottle of Banayad Whiskey along with their family’s official statement regarding the said issue. He further stressed that the liquor sold in the market has nothing to do with Dolphy in the Quizon family.
“This is to inform the public that: BANAYAD WHISKY as shown in the photograph above and/or any product or merchandise having the same brand, is NOT ASSOCIATED, AFFILIATED, OR CONNECTED with RODOLFO ‘DOLPHY’ VERA QUIZON and/or the HEIRS OF DOLPHY. Any complaint or transaction related to BANAYAD WHISKY shall not be acknowledged by the heirs of Dolphy. Please be guided accordingly,” he wrote.
