2 Fake Employees of Maynilad Arrested in Entrapment Over Extortion

Police authorities arrested 2 individuals posing as employees of Maynilad in an entrapment operation over extortion.

The two fake Maynilad employees were apprehended by the Navotas post during an entrapment operation in Agora, Navotas City. The suspects were identified as Ralph Vincent Bernardo, 37, a factory worker from 1244 Sto. Jacqueline Poblete, 45, of 920 Sister Concepcion St, Tondo; and Nio, Moriones, Tondo, Manila.

According to the report, the operation was carried out by Intelligence Section officers directed by Police Captain Luis Rufo and managed and supervised by Navotas Police Chief Colonel Allan Umipig, as well as Lt.Col. ACOPA Antonio Naag and Lt Jerome Espinas, Deputy Sub Stn. 3 commanders.

Guilbert Ramirez, 65, a seafood vendor from Navotas East, was identified as the victim. According to the victim’s sworn statement, on April 2, 2023, two suspects arrived to their home and identified themselves as Maynilad Services.

The two imposters demanded P50,000.00 in exchange for illegally tampering with his water meter. He offered an initial P5,000 out of anxiety for the victim and promised to give the extra later.

The victim went to the Navotas Police Station and reported the two suspects’ extortion until they were apprehended in a police entrapment at a restaurant chain. The suspects are charged with robbery and extortion.
