47 PNP Officials Found Responsible for the 990-kg Illegal Drugs Bust

47 officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were found responsible in connection with the 990-kg illegal drugs bust.

The PNP officials and officers were held criminally and administratively accountable for the seizure of 990 kilos of shabu in Manila last year. The majority of the police personnel who have been held guilty are members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG).

According to a report, this was stated in a memorandum signed by PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) Director Police Major General Eliseo Cruz. Cruz’s memo names former PDEG Chief Police Brigadier General Narciso Domingo as the highest-ranking official.

Meanwhile, SITG 990 surrendered the guns of 47 PNP officers and staff. On Monday, SITG 990 will hold a news conference at Camp Crame. They will share the findings of their investigation into the illegal drug case involving 990 kg of recovered shabu involving now-dismissed Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo Jr.

Mayo was detained in October 2022 after authorities seized 990 kilograms of suspected shabu worth more than P6.7 billion during a series of anti-drug operations in Manila. According to police documents, Mayo is a PDEG intelligence officer.

Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos ordered two police generals and numerous other police officers to go on leave within a week or face suspension following the National Police Commission (Napolcom) investigation. According to him, the research revealed that “there is indeed a massive attempt to cover up the arrest of Mayo.”
