Japanese Waitress Who Allegedly Poured Own Blood into Customer’s Drink Fired

A Japanese cafe fired a waitress after she allegedly poured her own blood into the drink of one of their customers.

Employees in the food and beverage business are being praised for putting their blood, sweat, and tears into their jobs in order to satisfy every consumer. A waitress at a café in Japan, on the other hand, was dismissed for taking it too literally.

The Mondaiji Con Cafe Daku in Hokkaido, Japan, has lately become controversial after it was revealed that they fired one of their staff for putting her blood in a cocktail. According to the article in The Strait Times, it is a customer request.

The woman’s actions of pouring her own blood into the drink were included in the cafe’s public apology. The cafe, however, stated that this was “absolutely not acceptable” and dismissed the employee.

They also stated that they would be closing their doors for a day to replace their drinking glasses. Zento Kitao, a doctor, told the Flash that drinking other people’s blood is “an extremely dangerous act.”

“Cases of people getting infected from drinking another person’s blood are rare, but major diseases can be transmitted through blood, including HIV, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B and syphilis. If there are wounds in the mouth, it is easy to be infected by blood transmissions,” Kitao said.

The Mondaiji Con Cafe Daku, approximately translated as the Problem Child Dark Café, is located in Japan’s second-largest Hokkaido island’s Susukino amusement district. The restaurant is notable for having waitresses who wear dark and gothic make-up.

The idea of the concept cafe is to hire “mentally unstable” and “problematic” girls as waitresses. Customers pay 2,500 yen (S$25) every hour to drink as much as they like.
