Herlene Budol is happy that she became a beauty queen
Kapuso actress Herlene Budol has this reaction to the higher respect that she is getting after she joined the Binibining Pilipinas.
Herlene rose to fame after she joined a contest in Willie Revillame’s game show Wowowin. Eventually, the show hired her as one of the co-hosts. She was first known as a funny girl who has a challenging life because they were struggling financially.
Then, last year, Herlene surprised a lot of showbiz fans when she joined the world of pageantry. She joined the national beauty pageant and was hailed Binibining Pilipinas 2022 First Runner-up.
She was supposed to compete in Miss Planet International 2022 but several problems occurred and her manager Wilbert Tolentino decided to pull her out of the said pageant.
Just recently, it was announced that Herlene Budol will join the Miss Grand Philippines 2023. She said in an interview, based on the article in GMA Entertainment that she opted to join this year in order to use her training in Binibining Pilipinas.
“Pag pinatagal ko pa, baka makalimutan ko pa lahat ng trinaining ko no’ng Binibini, ‘di ba?” she said. Although there is a delay in the submission of her application, Herlene said that she is determined to join.
She will be giving an update from time to time to her fans regarding her pageant journey if ever she will formally join the pageant. Herlene is also happy that her series Magandang Dilag in which she plays the lead role is set to premiere.
The actress said that she will not let her acting career be affected by the pageant stint. When asked why she wanted to join another pageant, Herlene Budol said that this is what her manager wants and this is something that will do well for her.
“So tinry ko naman yung best ko so kaya ngayon kung bakit gigil na gigil ako kasi ‘yun ‘yung gusto ni Sir Wilbert na alam kong ikakabuti ko kagaya no’ng nakinig ako sa kanya no’ng sumali ako ng Binibini. Mas napabuti po ‘yung buhay ko, ‘yung show ko, and everything,” she said.
She is also overwhelmed by the respect that she gets from people after proving that she has a spot in the world of pageantry. Previously, she was just known for being “Hipon” or “Budol” but now, she is being called with respect.
“Ngayon, nakakaproud sabihin na tinatawag na akong Ms. Herlene kasi parang itinuturing nila talaga akong beauty queen na kahit sabihin nating first runner-up lang ako, wala akong crown, ‘yung respect na nakukuha ko sa ibang tao, sobrang sarap sa feeling. Yun yung naging isa sa mga crown ko,” Herlene said.
