DSWD Warns Public vs Fake PB Page Offering Financial Assistance

Public Warned Against Fake FB Page of DSWD Offering Financial Assistance

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has warned the public against a fake Facebook page offering financial assistance.

The Facebook page “DSWD Financial Help” advertising college scholarships is a forgery. The government department’s social media post highlighted that this is not the agency’s official Facebook page and should not be trusted.

To avoid being a victim of fraud, the DSWD advises not to click or open suspicious links in the posts of the aforementioned social network account. As far as possible, report it quickly to prevent the spread of erroneous information, according to the post of DSWD.

“To be updated on DSWD programs, just visit our official website https://www.dswd.gov.ph and follow our official Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts @dswdserves and Instagram account @dswdphilippines,” the agency said.

Meanwhile, the DSWD has alerted the public against fraudulent text messages and social media posts saying that starting this month, all older persons will receive a monthly social stipend of P1,000 if they register online. The Social Pension for Indigent Older Persons, worth P500 per month, does not require registration, according to the DSWD.

Nevertheless, the agency stated that it does not yet have a timetable for the payment of the additional P500 from the National Commission of Older Citizens because the Department of Budget and Management has yet to release the funding for this. To minimize confusion, the DSWD has urged the public to be “vigilant” and refrain from responding to text messages from unfamiliar individuals or spreading unconfirmed social media posts.
