Cotabato Town Councilor Arrested for Bombing in May 2022 Election

A town councilor in Cotabato City was arrested for violating the anti-terror law over bombing in May 2022 election.

Authorities apprehended a councilor in Cotabato City during a law enforcement operation for violating the anti-terror statute. Abdulwadod Sangki, a member of the town council of Ampatuan in the province of Maguindanao del Sur, was arrested.

Authorities apprehended the suspect at the Cotabato airport on the basis of an arrest order issued in the instance of a breach of Republic Act 11479 or the Anti-terrorism Act of 2020. Sangki just returned from the 11th Councilors League 2023 National Conference, which was held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Cotabato Town Councilor Arrested

When he returned to Maguindanao, he was immediately intercepted by officials at the airport, according to Brig. Gen. John Guyguyon, police regional director of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Guyguyon stated that Sangki is the most sought person in the town and the fourth most wanted person in the region.

Based on the report of PNA, Sangki is suspected of being engaged in the May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections bombing at Datu Abdullah Sangki Elementary School, Barangay Poblacion, Ampatuan, Maguindanao. Sangki is now being held at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-BARMM prison facility in Cotabato City.
