Lovi Poe is happy to be part of ‘Batang Quiapo’
Kapamilya actress Lovi Poe talked about her role in the primetime series Batang Quiapo and her leading man Coco Martin, who is also the director of the series.
The said series is Lovi’s second major project since she transferred to ABS-CBN. Her first series was the Pinoy adaptation of the K-drama Flower of Evil with A-list actor Piolo Pascual.
This year, she is doing a TV series that was adapted from her father Da King Fernando Poe Jr.’s movie with the same title.
In a recent interview, Lovi Poe shared that she rewatched the movie even though she already watched it before. On the other hand, she said that she does not want to copy Maricel Soriano’s portrayal of the character in the movie.
Lovi’s character is Mocha “Mokang” Dimaculangan and they tag her “bargas” because of the way she speaks and moves.
“This comes naturally to me, too. Not many people know this, but I act according to how I’m dressed. When I’m wearing a gown or a dress, it’s like I’m playing a character. On the set, I always rely on my directors for guidance to make sure I’m consistent. The environment I work in helps a lot, too,” the actress said.
When asked how Coco is as her leading man, as well as the director and producer of the series, Lovi said that he is a caring person.
“He treats everyone on the set equally—that’s the one thing that I will never forget about him ever. I didn’t mean to observe him, but I couldn’t help it. I noticed how approachable he is. Anyone on the set can just come up to him if they have anything to ask,” she said.
Lovi Poe also said that she is amazed at how composed Coco Martin is all the time even how tired he is. She also said that Coco is a natural at acting and she has understood her style.
