Lauren Dyogi and ABS-CBN continue to create shows
Star Magic head Lauren Dyogi said that ABS-CBN, known as the Kapamilya network, is no longer operating as a television network but as a content creator.
Following the non-renewal of the media company’s franchise, it started partnering with streaming platforms and other networks. Just recently, it was announced the ABS-CBN will have a collaboration series with GMA-7, Unbreak My Heart.
The said series was shot in Switzerland and will feature Kapamilya stars Jodi Sta Maria and Joshua Garcia, and Kapuso stars Richard Yap and Gabbi Garcia.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Philstar Life, Lauren Dyogi talked about this partnership between ABS-CBN and GMA. He said that the aforementioned series will be aired soon on the Kapuso network.
Before the two media companies are pitted against each other but the situation is different now, especially on the part of ABS-CBN and its future projects. Right now, the media company is operating as a content provider for other media outlets and not a broadcast network.
“Di ba ang saya, ABS lang yung nakikita tayo kahit saan. For now, we’re not a network anymore because we don’t have a branch. We’re a media company, we’re a content creator now,” the media executive said.
With this, ABS-CBN is now taking its projects to bigger platforms. Right now, Dyogi said that GMA had the biggest platform because it is the “number one station” at this moment.
“We’re very thankful to them for partnering with us in the same way A2Z has been with us from the start and now Channel 5 and all the other OTP platforms that’s been collaborating with us,” the media executive said.
Lauren Dyogi expressed gratitude to everyone who helped open opportunities for them because right now, they can’t do it on their own.
“Iisa lang naman ang pangarap natin, which is to go global, so hanapin natin ang paraan—whether it’s Netflix, Viu, whether that’s Amazon. Kapag nagbukas ang pinto sa atin, ginagawan natin ng paraan na makatrabaho sila,” he added.
