PCG Arrested an Illegal Recruiter for Victiming a Coast Guard Applicant
The personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) arrested an illegal recruiter for allegedly extorting money from an applicant.
In a recent entrapment operation in Baclaran, Parañaque City, authorities apprehended an accused illegal recruiter who was demanding money from an application to work for the PCG. According to the article, the suspect’s name is Omar Sampang.
The PCG-Intelligence Force (IF) received a complaint from an applicant in December 2022 regarding Sampang’s purported demand for P350,000 to assure his admittance into the PCG. When the applicant objected, Sampang encouraged him to make a P50,000 advance payment.
When the CGIF got the report, the PCG conducted an immediate investigation, contacted the PNP-CIDG, and organized the entrapment operation. The operation was conducted out on March 10, and Sampang was apprehended while taking the marked money from the CGIF agent who purported to be a PCG candidate.
Sampang is being held in PNP-CIDG custody pending the booking process and the filing of a competent case of Estafa and Usurpation of Authority. Based on the report, PCG asked applicants to be on the lookout for unlawful recruiters and report them immediately.
