According to Brig. Gen. Michael Santos, commander of the Philippine Army’s 603rd Infantry Brigade, they encountered insurgents with the men of the 7th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Banali. Three people identified as members of the rebel organization were slain in the clash.

According to the report, the slain armed persons were only identified as Elmer, Anton, and Ronel, all members of the NPA Eusevio Cranzo command. The soldiers also took three M16 assault weapons, one M653 rifle, two grenades, and ammunition for said guns.

According to Santos, the 7th Infantry Battalion got a tip from local locals about the NPA stealing money, food, and cattle. So the troops rushed right away, and there they found the source of the conflict.
