POI in the hazing death of Adamson Student John Matthew Found Dead

A person of interest (POI) in the hazing case of Adamson University student John Matthew Salilig was found dead in their house.

A person of interest in Salilig’s suspected hazing killing was discovered dead in his Taguig City house. Virgilio Jopia, chief of police in Bian, Laguna, verified the incident to reporters.

According to Jopia, the victim allegedly committed suicide after being implicated in the Salilig hazing case. Jopia stated that the case, which was coordinated with Taguig police, was classified as a suicide.

“Kanina may kumoordinate sa atin para i-surrender ‘yung vehicle. And pinuntahan natin only to find out na patay na pala ‘yung person of interest natin last Feb. 28,” he told reporters.

Jopia stated that the person of interest is a 28-year-old Adamson University alumnus. He added that the POI was driving another vehicle that was carrying fraternity members and another hazing victim, based on the report.

According to the police chief, his parents were the ones who negotiated with the Bian police to return the automobile. Following Salilig’s death, several others have been charged, including members of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity.

Salilig went missing on the same day he was supposed to attend the group’s initiation procedures in Laguna town. Days later, the 24-year-body old’s was discovered buried in a lot in Cavite. Meanwhile, the Bian police have urged any other alleged hazing victims to come forward and contact authorities in order to avoid prosecution.
