Rachel Donaire Becomes Emotional After Called “Gold Digger” by Nonito’s Father
RACHEL DONAIRE – The wife of Filipino boxer Nonito Donaire cries foul being called “gold digger” by Nonito’s father Donaire Sr.
Rachel Donaire, a former female boxer, was overcome with emotion as she discussed her feud with her father-in-law, Nonito Donaire Sr. Rachel said in her testimony that Donaire Sr was constantly criticizing her because of the lack of support he received from his son.
Donaire Sr, according to Rachel, wanted to take advantage of the situation and receive money from his son. Rachel bemoaned that no matter what she do she was always the bad guy and even called her a “gold digger”.
“No matter what I do, I’m always gonna be the bad guy… I can’t anymore, guys. It’s all about the money… He’s been bullying me from day one. He’s been saying that I’m a gold digger. But literally, the reason he’s saying this sh*t is because he tried to trap me,” she said.
According to her, the problem began in 2008, when Donaire Sr. withdrew his son’s boxing stipend, often known as a “per diem,” without their permission. Donaire Sr. wanted his son to blame Rachel for the missing boxing allowance, according to Rachel.
“He tried to trap me in 2008… because he was accused of stealing. In the 2008 story, Nonito asked me if I got the per diem money because I was acting as manager, but I didn’t. I didn’t sign for it. And Nonito Jr. questioned me because I was supposed to sign for the per diem money. And I was supposed to pass it out,” she said.
“But the truth is I didn’t sign for it coz I didn’t know better. And I had to protect myself. I had to involve the promoter. I had to ask who signed for the per diem coz Jr. was accusing me of taking the per diem money, and it wasn’t true. So I asked Top Rank who signed for that per diem money because it wasn’t me. I checked.” she added.
Rachel realized after some investigation that the person who signed the boxing allowance was none other than Donaire Sr. Rachel stated that Nonito’s father stole the money, and her husband blamed her despite her insistence that she did not sign the per diem money.
She conveyed her displeasure with her father-in-law’s treatment of her because of money. She also expressed her disappointment that Donaire Sr persisted to set her up every time.
It can be observed that Donaire Jr. approached Rachel as she was speaking, but his wife begged him to go. Donaire Jr. consoled Rachel briefly before leaving.
“Go away. Just go! No! No! Please just go! I need to finish this. Please just go. Just let me finish this.” she said during the live broadcast.
