BI Dismissed Warden and 35 Other Personnel in Detention Center in Taguig
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has dismissed a warden and 35 other personnel assigned to the detention center in Taguig City.
The BI has ordered the removal of the warden and 35 other employees of the agency’s Taguig detention center. Following the discovery of gadgets within the facility during the latest raid, BI Spokesperson Dana Sandoval verified this.
“Well of course the responsibility lies on the head of the warden facility. Because if [it’s] this massive then definitely there must be something going on. So the head and all the people inside the facility have been replaced, we are replacing them with new employees,” she said.
Sandoval highlighted that when allowed by the BI commissioner, detainees can use cell phones. Commissioner Norman Tansingco, on the other hand, has yet to sign a request to utilize the device.
She pointed out that inmates can only use cell phones with the BI Commissioner’s permission. So, by schedule, authorization from the commissioner is required first.
“The use of gadgets in our warden facility is allowed with the prior approval of the commissioner. So there needs to be authorization from the commissioner first and that’s by schedule,” it said.
It further stated that the four Japanese nationals wanted in their country for alleged criminal activity are being deported. According to reports, one of the Japanese nationals imprisoned in the facility is “Luffy,” the leader of a gang responsible for a number of robberies in Japan.
“The deportation of the four suspects are being expedited so that the Japanese authorities can further investigate Luffy’s identity and if indeed he was able to commit his activities from Manila to Japan,” she said.
