Dina Bonnevie highlighted the importance of leaving a legacy
Veteran actress Dina Bonnevie was asked by King of Talk Boy Abunda if there was a point in her that she felt afraid of becoming a “has-been.”
Dina started her showbiz career at a young age. She was one of the actresses of her generation who went through a love team phase when she was a teenager. Eventually, more serious roles were given to her and now she is considered one of the “batikang aktres” in the Philippine entertainment industry.
In a recent interview on Tito Boy’s Kapuso talk show Fast Talk, he asked Dina if she was afraid of becoming old. The actress answered that one would just become “matanda” if you stop growing.
“When you have nothing to give, when you have no legacy, then, matanda ka,” Dina Bonnevie said. Then, the King of Talk had a follow-up question. He asked his guest if he becomes afraid of reaching the point of being “laos.”
Before giving her answer, Dina shook her head. “Hindi ka malalaos if you continue to leave legacies in your life,” she stressed. The veteran actress also stressed the importance of reinventing one’s self.
She cited herself as an example. Years ago, she was popular doing teen roles with love team partners. Then, she reinvented herself into a dramatic actress. Eventually, she became a talk show host and a telecom executive, and a business owner.
With this, Dina asked, “paano ka malalaos?” She added that being is has-been is not a thing when you keep on reinventing yourself. Then, she likened this to a diamond with so many facets and people will see different facets or different sides of a person.
Tito Boy joked that Ms. D or Ms. Bo as he calls her was wearing a lot of diamonds for that interview.
