Vivamax, MTRCB Signs Partnership for Responsible Watching Campaign

Vivamax and Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) signed an agreement for a responsible watching campaign.

The MTRCB and Viva Inc.’s streaming service Vivamax signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) in Quezon City on January 27. This is related to their collaboration to promote Responsible Viewing among Filipino viewers.

The MOA requires both parties to work together to carry out initiatives and activities that aid in the protection of the viewing public. Viva is committed to responsible self-regulation by providing adequate age-rating advice on its Video-On-Demand (VOD) material.

Viva should also keep its parental control tool for subscribers in its web apps. For its part, MTRCB has agreed to work with Viva Inc. to help calibrate the latter’s rating categorization for its films, advertising, and marketing materials, based on the article of PEP.

Most significantly, both parties commit to settling any content-related concerns brought by the public in an amicable manner, keeping the consumer’s well-being in mind. MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto mentioned this in her statement at the MOA signing ceremony.

“The partnership that is forged through this MOA is rooted in our shared concern for the Filipino viewing public. As it has done in the past, the Board allows the industry to thrive through the practice of responsible self-regulation while ensuring that each Filipino household shall have access to a safe and comfortable viewing experience,” she said.

“My sincere thanks to Vivamax Inc. President Vincent del Rosario and his team for making history as the first Filipino-owned and operated VOD to partner with MTRCB to promote Responsableng Panonood. It’s good that Viva has joined this cause. The other production companies and content creators should follow suit,” she added.
