Comedienne-singer Kakai Bautista revealed that she was the one who sang the iconic theme song of the Kapuso drama romance anthology Maynila and this shocked many netizens.
Kakai, who is known as the Dental Diva, has established her name in the entertainment industry, not just as a comedienne but also as a singer. In a recent Instagram post, she made revelations about a stint that many people did not know that she did.
“2002, The First and The Only Theme Song I recorded,” Kakai wrote in the caption of her post. Maynila was hosted by Lito Atienza and aired from 1999 to 2020. In her post, the Dental Diva did her version of the video that has been a popular song on Tiktok.
In the video, this caption was written: “Hulaan nyo kung kaninong boses yern?” Kakai Bautista also shared that the song was written by Vince de Jesus who also recorded it with her.
On Tiktok, Kakai also shared a video in which she was singing along with the Maynila theme song.
In the comment section of her post, several netizens expressed shock as they have no idea that it was the Dental Diva who recorded the iconic theme song. Even some of the celebrities who commented on her post asked if she is really the original singer of the Maynila theme song. Here are some of the comments.
Meanwhile, in an interview late last year, Kakai shared how her moniker Dental Diva came to life. She revealed that it was King of Talk Boy Abunda who gave her that moniker. During an interview on Tito Boy’s former show, he asked the comedienne-singer what she wants people would call her. She said that she wants something that would represent what she is known for, referring to her mouth.
