Former Senator Ping Lacson posted a blind item on his Twitter page about a celebrity in Congress who has a P3 billion budget.
Lacson is one of the prominent names in the political arena. From being a Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, he entered the world of politics and served as Senator for three terms from 2001 to 2013 and from 2016 to 2022.
In the 2022 elections, Lacson ran for president with former Senate President Tito Sotto as his running mate. Unfortunately, both of them did not win. Although he is not holding any position in the government now, Ping Lacson is still sharing his thoughts regarding political and social issues through his social media pages.
In one of his recent tweets, the former Senator talked about a “star in Congress.” “A star is born in Congress. When a showbiz star turned politician maneuvered his way into several blockbuster PhP3B budget insertions, we might as well call the 2023 General Appropriations Act a “star mangled” budget,” he wrote in his Twitter post on January 11.
Lacson did not mention any name in his post but it is a known fact that several celebrities are serving as representatives of the districts around the country and some are under certain party lists.
In the comments section of his post, the former Senator received questions about the identity of the said celebrity he was referring to. On the other hand, there was one netizen who said that if no name was mentioned then, this is just a thing of “marites.”
A netizen even mentioned some names of newbie celebrities in Congress and pointed out that if Ping Lacson is really brave, he should reveal the identity of the person he is talking about.
“Bakit ayaw pangalanan? Akala ko ba matapang? Sinu sino ba ang artista turned congressman na nasa 1st term – richard gomez, arjo atayde, jolo revilla,” a netizen commented.
