18 Police Officials in Cordillera Resign After Linked to Illegal Drugs

18 Police Officials in Cordillera Signed Courtesy Resignation after Linked to Illegal Drugs

18 high-rank police officials in Cordillera accepted the courtesy resignation after they were all linked to an illegal drugs trade in the country.

The Police Regional Office-Cordillera endorsed Secretary of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Benjamin Abalos Jr.’s request that all police generals and colonels submit courtesy resignations. This is to rid their ranks of anyone suspected of being involved in illegal narcotics.

“We support and we accept the challenge to tender a courtesy resignation,” this was the statement of Brig. Gen. Mafelino Bazar, regional director of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera, on January 6.

On Friday, Bazar signed his courteous resignation letter, which he would give to President Bongbong Marcos and Abalos. According to Bazar, the courteous resignation includes 18 high-ranking PROCOR personnel, including two Brigadier Generals and 16 Colonels.

Based on the report, PRO-Cordillera has also decided to include Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong to the Committee of Five. The group was formed to conduct a thorough study and assessment of approximately 950 PNP colonels and generals who are anticipated to quit courtesy.

It would be beneficial if Mayor Benjamin Magalong were present to evaluate and analyze us. As a former PNP officer, we are familiar with his past and character, according to Bazar. He stated that the ongoing service of the police peace order will have no effect because courtesy resignations and status quo jobs will be examined first.

“Ang maipagmamalaki lamang natin dito ay mabansagan tayong Home of Disciplined Cops ang Cordillera at kung sa illegal drugs ay napakaliit lamang at isyu sa marijuana plantation ay lagi nating inaaksyunan,” said Bazar.
