Cebu Gov Slams Restaurant after Staff Help to Beat an International Chef

Gov Gwen Garcia Air Dismay to a Restaurant in Cebu after Staff Involved in Beating International Chef

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia airs dismay to a restaurant after some of their staff allegedly involved in beating an international chef.

Last December 23, an international English chef and restaurateur was beaten up after defending his reportedly mistreated daughter inside a restaurant in Cebu. Gwendolyn Garcia, the governor of Cebu, posted about the incident on her Facebook page.

According to her, a group of guys assisted in beating the victim, Jason Atherton, after he defended his daughter while standing in line at the F Cafe and Bar toilet. Jason stated that all he wanted was for the males who were harassing his daughter to apologize.

Unfortunately, they began assaulting him. The chef even revealed that the restaurant’s bouncers and female supervisor assisted the suspects in beating him.

“On the night of Dec 23, while in the F CAFE AND BAR with his WIFE and DAUGHTER, a group of guys BEAT him up. Worse, F BAR’S BOUNCERS held him down so JASON couldn’t fight back. The LADY MANAGER joined in the MELEE, even providing a bottle to beat him further, the whole time CONDEMNING him and ALL FOREIGNERS as TROUBLEMAKERS,” said Garcia.

“WHAT started it all? These guys were HARASSING his DAUGHTER, while she was waiting in line for the restroom. JASON asked them to APOLOGIZE, as any FATHER who LOVES his DAUGHTER would. Instead, they all ganged up on him, including F BAR’S PEOPLE,” he added.

Garcia apologized to Atherton for the event after it occurred. Meanwhile, Garcia appears enraged after injuring those who beat Atherton.

“This gracious, gifted man certainly DID NOT DESERVE the SHAMEFUL TREATMENT he got, RIGHT HERE, in CEBU. SHAME ON THOSE WHO HARRASSED JASON’S DAUGHTER THEN BEAT HIM UP!

“SHAME ON THE BOUNCERS AND LADY MANAGER OF F CAFE AND BAR! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!” said Garcia in her post.

F Cafe and Bar, on the other hand, has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident. According to Garcia, Jason Atherton received a Michelin star for its main restaurant just six months after it opened in April 2011.

Aside from his London restaurants, Atherton owns and operates many more in Shanghai, Dubai, Mykonos, Greece, and St. Moritz, Switzerland. He also married Irha, a Cebuana.
