Concert Producer Apologized and Explained “Worst” Ben&Ben Homecoming Concert
The concert producer of the homecoming concert of Filipino band Ben&Ben apologized and explained after being criticized.
Ovation Productions also issued a statement on Facebook this Wednesday in response to concertgoers’ rage against the organizer and producer of the Ben&Ben concert in Paranaque last Sunday, December 18, 2022. The fans of the Filipino band were disappointed by the concert’s bad experience.
It should be noted that among the complaints leveled at the organizer were a lack of clear instructions in the queue and a lack of enforcement of security accessing the performance grounds. While thanking the folk band and the 65,000 fans that visited the SMDC Festival Grounds, the production confessed that “logistical issues” were to blame for many concertgoers’ negative experiences.
Before explaining the chaotic wait and other issues, Ovation re-enacted some of their successful outdoor concerts from the 1990s, starring huge performers such as One Direction, Usher, Ed Sheeran, Metallica, and Stings. They stated that they had never received similar complaints before.
“For this, we would like to apologize to everyone affected. We would normally have multiple entry points at both sides of the venue to facilitate fast and easy access and to keep queuing short and fast-moving,” added Ovation which was later changed to prevent some concertgoers from literally falling into the mud.
“Since SMDC Festival Grounds was a new venue, there was ongoing construction work on the cement floor on the right side. The gates on the left side were deemed to be sufficient,” they continued.
They also claimed that they were not permitted to post “instructional signage” around the musical area. In their defense, there are plenty of security guards both inside and outside the arena, as well as police and an ambulance.
“Security procedures at the gates admittedly contributed in the slowing down of the flow but it was a necessary procedure. At some point, said security procedures were relaxed in order to unclog the choke points and then later re-imposed when the situation improved. This was to prevent a potentially hazardous influx at the gates from occurring,” said Ovation in their post.
Lastly, the producers acknowledged that it was a mistake on their side that had upset so many fans. If they are certain, they will insist on improving the next occurrences. Ben&Ben first apologized to fans on Tuesday for what happened on Sunday. Regardless of the Producer’s comment, supporters are still enraged and frustrated.
