James Reid talked about his journey in music
Being known mainly as an actor, James Reid took a risk in pursuing his music career and eventually establishing his record label Careless Music.
James is previously managed by Viva Artist Agency but in 2019, he decided not to renew his contract. Over the years, he is known as the better half of Nadine Lustre in the JaDine love team.
Together, they did various TV and movie projects. However, he left his acting career which was a sure thing for him in showbiz in order to explore the possibilities of reaching new milestones when it comes to music.
In an interview with PEP, James Reid that he is thankful that he has a strong support system when he decided to go on with this journey.
“They stick it out even though we’ve gone through some really difficult times. Even when people tell us it’s not gonna work. Just sticking through it, it was all really worth it,” the actor shared.
He created Careless Music with the initial intention to be in control of his career. “It’s for me to be able to take risks on my career, which is what I wanted to do,” he said. Eventually, artists who share the same passion as him were drawn to the music label.
Now, it is a full-fledged entertainment company. One of its primary goals of James is to break barriers for Filipino artists. He has started his journey in the global scene and this includes actress Liza Soberano who is now being managed by Careless Music.
James Reid also wanted to provide a venue for artists to be creative while providing sustainable careers. “I think a lot of that is opening opportunities that didn’t exist before. That’s really what the mission is right now,” he said.
