Son of DOJ Sec Boying Remulla Files Candidacy for Representative in Cavite
The son of Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla announced candidacy for the special election in Cavite.
The Cavite 7th District will be represented by Crispin Diego “Ping” Remulla in the special elections scheduled for February 25, 2023. Ping will contest the election as a National Unity Party candidate, according to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) (NUP).
You may recall that his father, Remulla the Elder, won the aforementioned position at the most recent election. However, he quickly abandoned it after being named DOJ secretary by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Based on the report, the younger Remulla will compete against Michael Angelo Bautista Santos, Melencio Loyola De Sagun, Jr., and Jose Angelito Domingo Aguinaldo (all independent) (Independent).
In contrast to his older brother Juanito Jose Remulla III, who was detained on suspicion of smuggling illegal drugs, the younger Remulla is already involved in politics. Since 2019, Remulla has served on the 7th District Board of Directors.
“All registered voters from the Municipalities of Amadeo, Indang and Tanza, and the City of Trece Martires, will be participating in this electoral exercise, which is being held by reason of the existence of vacancy of the post of Representative for the said Legislative District as certified by the House of Representatives in its House Resolution No. 100 dated 27 July 2022,” according to COMELEC spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco.
The Provincial Election Supervisor Mitzele Veron Morales-Castro must receive the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) by December 5 or 6, 2022, according to the COMELEC National Office. Only from January 26, 2023, until February 23, 2023, will the official campaigning take place. The Election Day in 2023 is set for February 25.
