Manny Pacquiao’s Reaction To Referee Cheat

Manny Pacquiao Responds To Carlos Padilla’s Recent Reveal

MANNY PACQUIAO – Eight-division world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao broke his silence after referee Carlos Padilla admitted he cheated to save Pacman from being knocked out by Aussie fighter Nedel Hussein.

Australian boxer Nedel Hussein was defeated by Pinoy boxing legend Manny Pacquiao in a fight in 2000. A well-known Filipino referee named Carlos Padilla officiated the match at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

The Hussein-Pacquiao fight was deemed a technical knockout victory. The fight was stopped after the tenth round when Nedel suffered a serious cut above his left brow. The triumph allowed Manny to retain his WBC International super bantamweight title.

There was little controversy about the victory until recently when Carlos Padilla claimed that Manny Pacquiao’s victory was anomalous and even acknowledged his involvement. He asserted that he extended Manny’s count as early as the fourth round.

“Because I am a Filipino and everybody [was] Filipino watching the fight, so I prolonged the count. I know how to do it…”

“And when he got up, I said, ‘Hey, are you okay?’ That was prolonging the fight,” he added.

Carlos Padilla also admitted that Manny Pacquiao truly headbutted Nedel Hussein instead of throwing a legal punch. Nedel received a cut from the aforementioned punch, which Carlos delayed checking until much later.

“He butted the other guy. There was a cut. I declared it a punch. If there is a butt, you have to stop the fight. But if you do not do that, the fight continues, meaning to say it is a good hit, clean punch.”

Based on a report from PUSH, Manny Pacquiao said that he did nothing wrong. He acknowledged that he may have benefited somewhat from playing at his home court, but he insisted that he fought honorably throughout.

“As a boxer, ginawa ko lang naman ‘yung dapat kong gawin. Ginagawa ko lang ‘yung trabaho ko… That’s his problem, not mine,” said Manny.
